WARNING TO ALL CHILDREN: Once you've read the story, don't be surprised if the magic of Cardigan Bay comes calling you too.
My name is Kirsten Hintner, and I'm a producer, author and animal-lover. Since I can remember I have taken a keen interest in the animal kingdom and our planet. I'm an adovate for animal-welfare, having trained as a film maker at The BBC NHU and The Open University just so I could document and help heighten awareness around as many animal and conservation issues as possible. I've used my skills to assist numerous animal-welfare and conservation charities such as PETA, HULA, The National Trust, Sea Watch Foundation, Flora & Forna International, Mahouts Foundation, The Monkey Sanctuary and some of my documentaries have been highlighted as 'The One to Watch' by The Mail on Sunday.
By combining film-making and conservation I've designed and run workshops in schools teaching young people how to successfully communicate a strong environmental message. I've organised and hosted a film screening which was attended and supported by The Minister for Environment.
As Creative Director of Sea Watch Foundation's award-winning Adopt a Dolphin scheme I've developed fun interactive educational materials and actively encourage our young members to get involved.
Learning MUST be fun. Keen, young minds MUST be nurtured and it's my hope that I have achieved that and continue to do so through powerful story-telling. I meet lot's of young people through my work, many of them already have a love of the natural world, and some already know they want to become marine biologists, or dolphin-researchers.

As well as using film and media to highlight issues I now also write. At primary school I was writing and producing my own magazine for kids called 'Whisper!' During my time at secondary school I took on a contract from a local paper to produce a monthly wildlife feature over the period of a year. Since then I've written features for The BBC Wildlife website, contributed content to various Open University courses, edited scripts for TV, produced a Literature Review concerning the impacts of fisheries on marine mammals (recently quoted from in The Guardian), and I am Editor of two-monthly newsletters for 7-13 year olds on behalf of Sea Watch Foundation.
..For as long as I can remember I've always been A BIG KID! That's just perfect when you actually are a kid, but it poses its problems when you're supposed to be a mature, responsible adult running a business!
Attending a fundraising film event I produced for a well-known animal charity.
This day was a PR event to promote a new and exciting scientific break-through!!!
A VERY important day...my first ever voice-overjob for a BIG client!
Are you getting the picture..? You see, I find being an adult sometimes quite tricky. It's a real struggle not to turn all of life's chores into a game. I guess that's why I love writing for children! Because they just seem to...get me!!
I really do try to be more sensible and blend in better, BUT it doesn't always work out!
And, as I simply ADORE animals, writing stories for children about animals is a 'match made in heaven!!! I get so excited when I write! I find myself day-dreaming about charaters, plots, locations, storylines, disasterous mishaps and hilarious shenanigans!
Aside of all the 'kidding around', I do occasionally manage to re-discover a semi-serious side.
To find out more about that and my achievements please read on...
I hope that this book will inspire and sow many seeds in all who read it.
Children MUST believe that they can make a difference, and dreams can come true!
Let me tell you all about me..
Here I am at work, problem is I always find something fun going on to distract me!
and
A fabulous screaming-hairy armadillo!
Pigs giggle if you tickle their noses ;O))
Eeek...not sure about this!
What a snakey-situation I got myself into!
My best friend!
